How it works

Three steps, each happening somewhere different: one on the server, one on your phone, one inside the operating system itself.

The list downloads to your phone

A full copy of the blocklist is stored on your device and refreshed in the background. Blocking works with no connection, and we never see who calls you.

The OS refuses the call

Android only asks the app about numbers that are not in your contacts. If the number is blocked, the call is rejected with no ring and no missed-call notification.

Your report protects everyone else

Report a number and it is blocked for you that instant. It is blocked for everyone else only once enough independent devices agree — so no single person can silence a number for the whole country.

How the list is built

This list is not bought, and it is not gathered from adverts. Every number in it reached its status through written rules, and these are the rules — so you can judge them rather than take our word.

A call from a number you do not know
A number that is not in your contacts rings. Nothing has happened yet: the app records nothing and uploads nothing.
You decide
If the call was unwanted, you report it. What leaves your phone is the number and the word "spam" — no name, no reason, nothing about you.
Blocked for you now, for others only on agreement
The number is blocked for you that instant. To be blocked for everyone else, enough independent devices have to agree — so no single person can silence a number for everyone.
The updated list reaches everyone
The change enters the list that downloads to every phone, and from then on that number does not ring for anyone.

Personal

Your decision, on your phone, immediately. It is sent nowhere and affects nobody else.

Community

Independent devices agree. Votes are weighted: a device that keeps agreeing with the community counts for more, one that abuses the service counts for less.

Human review

Disputed numbers are reviewed by hand. Anything blocked in error is lifted, and the number owner can ask for that review themselves.

And how a number leaves it

Counter-reports work by the same rule: if enough independent devices say a number is fine, the block is lifted — even one we added ourselves. Numbers nobody has reported in a long time drop out on their own, because brokers rotate SIMs constantly and the list must not keep numbers that now belong to someone else.

What we refuse to take

Some call blockers work by uploading your address book and attaching names to strangers’ numbers. We ruled that out in the first line of the design, not later as a setting you can switch off.

Why there is no caller ID

It is the most requested feature and we refuse it deliberately. The difference between the two approaches is the difference between a list of numbers and a database of names.

The approach we rejected

For an app to tell you a caller’s name, people have to upload their address books. Which means your number — and your name as a friend saved it — ends up in a company’s database without anyone asking you. That is what gets those apps into legal trouble in country after country.

Our approach

A report here means one thing: "I don’t want calls from this number." It accuses nobody and attaches a name to nobody. The list stays useful without putting anyone’s data at risk.

Report promotional calls to NTRA

Since August 2024, anyone making promotional calls must be registered with their operator. A promotional call from an unregistered number is a violation, and you can report it:

On a landline?

Telecom Egypt has a Call Filter service that keeps a blocklist on the line itself. Dial ‎*205#‎ from the landline to turn it on.

Keep important numbers in your contacts

Android never passes calls from your contacts to any blocking app. Your doctor, your kids’ school, the delivery company — if their number is saved, it can never be blocked by mistake, by us or by anyone else.

Expecting a call from an unknown number?

Add it to "Always allow" in the app and it rings even if the whole community blocks it. The hospital, a courier, a government office — anything you are waiting for.

Common questions

Will it drain my battery?

No. The app does not run a permanent background service. Android itself wakes it for a moment on each incoming call and shuts it down again. Nothing runs all day.

Could an important number be blocked by mistake?

It could — any human list can be wrong, and operators reassign numbers to new people. That is why numbers in your contacts can never be blocked, why you can see what was stopped and undo it in one tap, and why there is an "Always allow" list.

My number was blocked and I am not a broker. What now?

Email the number to haithamabdallah@gmail.com and we will look at how it came to be blocked. If it should not be there we remove it, and we can pin it so votes cannot block it again. We aim to answer within 48 hours.

Who decides that a number gets blocked?

Not one person. Anything you report is blocked for you immediately. For it to be blocked for everyone, enough independent devices have to agree, or our honeypot lines have to confirm it. Votes are weighted: a device that keeps agreeing with the community counts for more, one that abuses the service counts for less.

What about iPhone?

Coming. Apple allows exactly one mechanism for blocking, and the result for the user is the same: the phone does not ring.
